This course introduces you to the signs used under the SOLAS convention around a vessel.

The course will cover the different types of signs, their colour and location of the signs as well as the meaning of the most common signs. You will see how the signs are used to ensure safety on vessels and provide important information to the crew and passengers of the vessel in an emergency as well as through normal operations to ensure your safety.

A meaning of a number of signs will be used to ensure that you know the meaning of these should you see them on a vessel.

The course is a good introduction to this topic as well as a refresher for currently serving crew of vessels.

This course has been designed as a refresher for seagoing personnel as well as for shore based personnel with an interest in IMO Symbols.

Learning Outcomes:Upon successful completion of this training, participants will:
1. Understand the importance of standardized signage on ships.
2. Recognize and interpret IMO symbols related to life-saving appliances and fire-fighting equipment.
3. Know how to find emergency exits and muster stations.
4. Be aware of the SOLAS regulations that govern signage use on ships
5. Understand the colour coding of signs on board a vessel.

Assessment:An assessment will be provided at the end of the course (fully online). You will have unlimited attempts to achieve the 100% pass mark.
