Tanker: Advanced Training for Chemical Cargo Operations

Course also known as:Chemical Tanker

The aim of the course is to provide participants with an understanding of safe, pollution free chemical handling and transportation, and to enable them to supervise and train other personnel in operational procedures.

Who should participate?

Masters, Chief Engineers, Chief Mates, Second Engineer Officers and any person with immediate responsibility for cargo operations (as per IMO STCW Reg. V/1) responsible for loading, discharging and care in transit or handling cargo.

Course Entry Prerequisite

Please note the prerequisite is for entry onto the course and evidence must be provided at enrolment point of the following:

  • Australian issued Chemical Tanker Familiarisation certificate, Basic First Aid Certificate (including CPR) and Basic Fire Fighting Certificate; or
  • A Certificate of Competency which is, or has been, Chemical Tanker Safety endorsed.

Approval

AMSA approved, in accordance with Marine Order 70 (Seafarer Certification) 2014.

Outcome

AMSA Certificate for Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations, meeting the requirements of STCW Reg V/1-1 and Code Section A-V/1-1, paragraph 3 Table A-V/1-1-3
