Refresher training for Spirit of Tasmania crew

During this busy STCW revalidation year, TT-Line Marine Manager Malcolm Merry explains why the company chose AMC Search for its crew's refresher training.

2019 is an intensive year for STCW refresher training at AMC Search. Numbers of students coming to refresh their STCW Certificates are up significantly on 2018 as many seafarers’ tickets reach the end of their five-year validity period and require refresher training to renew.

Students come to AMC Search for their refresher training for convenience – we are running an average of two courses a month to suit schedules – and because it’s Australia’s best value STCW refresher training, featuring real fire fighting and dedicated survival facilities.

TT-Line – who trade as the Spirit of Tasmania – sent approximately 400 people to AMC Search during the last round of revalidation. In 2019, we’ve already run two dedicated refresher courses for them this year, and more are booked.

TT-Line Marine Manager Malcolm Merry explained that AMC Search went above and beyond to meet their needs during refresher training.

"Recently we had two of our crew members undertaking a Certificate of Safety Training and one of our crew members fell ill on a weekend and missed a day of the course.

"AMC Search went out of its way and the lecturer involved offered their time at the end of the course so the crew members could complete the course and obtain the certificate without having to return to the college again.

"And that’s just part of the relationship we have with the college and what they try to achieve for us."
