This course aims to provide students with an understanding of how fires are contained and extinguished on board ships. The use of water through fire hoses is the main focus, including the use of boundary cooling.

The processes for cleaning up fire impacted areas of the ship and well as refreshing the use of self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is also covered.

This course has been designed as a refresher for seagoing personnel as well as for shore based personnel with an interest in containing and extinguishing fires on board ships.

Learning Outcomes:Upon successful completion of this training, participants will:
1. Understand how fire is spread on a ship.
2. Know the methods to contain and extinguish a fire.
3. Identify the fire clean up options available.
4. Recall the procedures for using a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.

Assessment:An assessment will be provided at the end of the course (fully online), you will have unlimited attempts to achieve the 100% pass mark.
