Refresher and Revalidation - Certificate of Proficiency Rating (CoP)

Renew your Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) as Rating.

Which course do you need?

In order to retain your Certificate of Proficiency as Rating, you will need to complete a Continued Competency Refresher or Revalidation training course every five years.

The course you need to do depends on how much sea time you have. Please check the AMSA website if you need more information.

Refresher or Revalidation?

Refresher - with sea time

If you have qualifying sea time, you’ll need complete our Certificate of Proficiency Refresher course. The Refresher course meets mandatory Sea Survival and Fire Fighting continued competence requirements.

According to AMSA, qualifying sea service is one of the following:

  • At least 12 months in total during the preceding 5 years before application, or
  • 3 months in total during the preceding 6 months prior to revalidating.

Revalidation - without sea time

If you don't have the qualifying sea time you'll need to complete the Certificate of Proficiency Revalidation course.

According to AMSA, qualifying sea service is one of the following:
