New Board Chair, STCW refresher program, Polar Code courses + extensive training options in 2019

New Board Chair
In May we welcomed Retired Australian Rear Admiral and former Deputy Chief of Navy, Michael van Balen, as Chair of the AMC Search Board.
Michael is the newly appointed Principal of the Australian Maritime College and his experience and background in Navy is well suited to helping AMC Search maintain and grow its reputation as an organisation of excellence in the delivery of training services.
His extensive knowledge of defence and the wider maritime industry will help us ensure AMC Search is fit to meet our clients’ rapidly changing training and consulting needs.
STCW Refresher program
We’re six months in to our expanded STCW refresher program, which is Australia's most extensive - and best value.
To ensure we fit in with your unpredictable crewing and staffing schedules, courses are running every month for the remainder of 2019.
We will also shortly be offering STCW training from our Sydney campus in Darling Harbour; dates will be confirmed soon.
Polar Code course
With the end of the 2019 Antarctic shipping season, it’s worth considering your qualifications and ability to work in polar waters.
In 2017, the IMO released the Polar Code which is designed to ensure safe and environmentally-friendly shipping in the Arctic and Antarctic waters. All crew working on vessels in the Arctic or Antarctic must undergo training on the Polar Code.
To help seafarers and shipping companies meet this requirement, AMC Search has developed Australia's first training course on the code.
Polar Code Basic runs August 7-9 and Polar Code Advanced August 12-16. Both courses are delivered from our campus in Launceston. To find out more, click here.
