This course introduces participants to the approach to security threats on board a ship. This includes recognition of approaching threats at sea and in port, how to recognise weapons, and how to undertake searches for visitors to a vessel. The course will also outline the difference between piracy and robbery on board vessels at sea.

This course has been designed as a refresher for seagoing personnel with an interest in recognising and acting on a security threat.

Learning Outcomes:Upon successful completion of this training, participants will:
1. Understand what a security threat is and how to identify one.
2. Know what weaps and dangerous substances and devices are and how to identify them.
3. Identify the difference between piracy and armed robbery on ships.
4. Be able to identify suspicious or aggressive approaches to the vessel.
5. Know the process for checking a visitor and their bags on boarding a vessel.
Assessment:An assessment will be provided at the end of the course (fully online), you will have unlimited attempts to achieve the 100% pass mark.
