This course is designed to be an introduction or refresher to the Polar Code. The course provides context on the development of the Polar Code and the requirements of this code. It also looks at operations within the polar regions including passage planning, ice reports, accidents, the use of icebreakers and general management of the polar regions. This course provides the basic knowledge to understand polar shipping.
