Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) Technical Training

Course also known as: AMS Technical Training

Designed for personnel who have completed the AUV Basic Operator Course or have AUV operating experience and require additional knowledge, skills and experience to diagnose issues and fault find on AUVs.

The  course  will  be  delivered through face-to-face theory lessons followed by practical ‘hands-on’ sessions to provide candidates with optimal learning outcomes.

  • AUV cybersecurity
  • Introduction to networking for AUVs
  • Practical underwater positioning/navigation and its impact on mission design.
  • Underwater communications and diagnostics.
  • Vehicle hydrostatics & hydrodynamics introduction for the AUV Technician
  • Advanced vehicle performance analysis and its impact on mission objectives
  • Essential mission systems checks for the AUV Technician
  • Advanced Sonar theory and application
  • Advanced Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) theory and application
  • AUV performance impact on results and feature identification
  • ADCP / DVL theory
  • Deployment of AUV on diagnostic missions
  • Advanced Post Processing of AUV performance data
  • In-depth understanding of vehicle performance data

Prerequisite

Successfully completed the AMC Search AUV Basic Operator Course or have AUV operating experience. 

Outcome

Participants who successfully complete this course will be eligible to receive an Australian Maritime College Certificate in Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) Technical Training.
