Autonomous Maritime Systems Fundamentals (Online)

Course also known as: AMS Fundamentals

Provides an introduction to Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and Unmanned Surface Vehicles technology, key terminology, operating concepts and system capabilities/limitations.

Designed for personnel who need to start building their knowledge of Autonomous Maritime Systems, i.e. both AUVs and USVs. It is ideally suited to individuals who need an understanding of Autonomous Maritime Systems, but at this stage of their careers do not need to directly operate them. 

The AMS Fundamentals contains two core units of competency from Certificate III in Autonomous Maritime Systems (MAR31222):

  • MARH034 Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) operations
  • MARH035 Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS)

ONLINE DELIVERY 

This course is delivered online through the University of Tasmania's learning management system, MyLO. The course requires a reasonable internet connection and a webcam to complete the assessment.

Certification

The following certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who successfully complete* the course:

  • Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) Fundamentals 


Australian residents who successfully complete this course will also receive the following Statements of Attainment:

  • MARH034 - Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) operation
  • MARH035 - Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) 

MARH034 and MARH035 are nationally recognised units of competency under the Australian Maritime College (RTO ID 60131).
