In the past week, AMC Search has been recognised twice for its achievements in the defence sector, reaching the finals of a defence industry award and being certified for exceeding the benchmark set for it as a key Defence supplier.
Early in the week, the organisation was announced as a finalist in the Defence Connect Australian Defence Industry Awards, which recognise the role of individuals and organisations in advancing defence industry and capability building.
The nomination in the Small and Medium Enterprise of the Year – Regional category acknowledges the role of services provided by AMC Search to the Department of Defence.
These include Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) training for Royal Australian Navy (RAN)’s Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving and Hydrographic Groups, Pacific Patrol Boat Training for personnel from 12 Pacific Nations and simulated modelling of vessel and wharf designs to support the development of new Royal Australian Navy infrastructure.
“We are honoured to be recognised for the important role that we, as a small organisation, play in supporting the defence supply chain with human capability building and advancing infrastructure development,” said Barry Jones, Pacific Patrol Boat Training Contract Manager at AMC Search.
Later in the week, AMC Search was recognised by the Australian Department of Defence for exceeding the quality performance benchmarks set for it as a key supplier.
The company retained its 92% rating — first achieved in 2016 — after a quality management performance activity that assessed management, quality planning and processes, records, products, workplace health and safety, environmental management, audit procedures and staff training.
By exceeding the Maritime Systems Division Supplier Quality Performance Benchmark of 81%, AMC Search continues to demonstrate that it is deemed by Defence to be a low risk service provider that can be relied upon to manage contracts on time, within budget and in accordance with legislative requirements.
The rating puts AMC Search alongside major international Defence contractors such as BAE Systems, Raytheon, Thales, AUSTAL and ThyssenKrupp.
At a Key Defence Supplier conference in Canberra last week, a Quality Management Performance certificate was awarded to Nic Bender, Manager – Projects and Infrastructure – by Rear Admiral Wendy Malcolm, RAN, Head of Maritime Systems.
“Achieving and maintaining the performance benchmark is a significant ongoing achievement for AMC Search, which has worked with the Department of Defence for over 27 years, primarily through the training provided for the Pacific Patrol Boat program,” Bender said.
