This course provides candidates with a base level of knowledge on ships and ports and how they interact.

From the ship perspective, it covers ship types, how they work, what they carry, what rules apply to ships, and how they are managed.

For ports, an introduction is provided as to how a port operates, who the players are within a port, and how ports are managed.

The course aims to provide candidates with sufficient knowledge to understand the maritime industry's basic workings.

This course is designed for new entrants into the industry, or individuals looking to move into the maritime industry. It will also provide a wider understanding of the maritime industry for those who are already participating in one sector of the industry.

Assessment:An assessment will be provided throughout the course (fully online), you will have unlimited attempts to achieve the 100% pass mark.

Face to face courses

Cancellations up to 15 working days prior to the scheduled date will be accepted without penalty. Cancellations less than 15 working days will be subject to 100% cancellation fee.

AMC Search reserves the right to cancel the course 15 working days prior to the scheduled date if insufficient registrations are received. Any fees paid for cancelled courses will be refunded in full.

Online courses

Payment of course fees, or authorisation to invoice from your company, is required before access to the online learning environment is provided. Please note, it will take between 2-4 business days to provide your access to the online course if you have not studied previously with AMC Search, the Australian Maritime College or the University of Tasmania.
