Industry welcomed to Sydney Study Centre

The new Australian Maritime College Sydney Study Centre played host to over 60 representatives from the maritime industry at a networking event last week.

Organisations spanning defence, ports, shipping, renewable energy, pilotage and more gathered to find out about the new Study Centre and meet industry colleagues.

The event was the first to be held in the new Australian Maritime College Study Centre, which is located inside the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.

The study centre is a new location for short courses, postgraduate studies and other maritime-related events.

We hope the new location will provide the industry with greater choice and flexibility in maritime training

Representatives heard from Interim Australian Maritime College Principal, Professor Natalia Nikolova, on the expansion to Sydney and the postgraduate studies available from July 2018.

AMC Search CEO, Dean Cook, also spoke about the short courses currently scheduled in Sydney and the opportunities for bespoke and company-specific training in Sydney.

Mr Cook said the event was a fantastic opportunity to meet industry and find out more about their training and education needs in Sydney.

“I’d like to thank everyone that came along and contributed to such a vibrant event; it was great to see such a strong turnout.

“There was a lot of interest in AMC in Sydney, and we hope the new location will provide the industry with greater choice and flexibility in maritime training.”
