About Fire Fighting – Advanced
Fire Fighting - Advanced provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to respond effectively as a key member of the on board command fire fighting team and manage shipboard fire prevention, coordinate tactical fire fighting and use and maintain fire fighting and fire detection equipment carried on merchant vessels.
Course Entry Prerequisites
Please note the following prerequisite is for entry onto the course and evidence must be provided at enrolment point of the following:
- A Basic Fire Fighting Certificate (issued by an AMSA approved training provider); or
- An overseas STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate

The following certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who successfully complete the course:
- Advanced Fire (AMSA approved) meeting the requirements of STCW Reg VI/3 and Code Section A-VI/3, Table A-VI/3.
100% attendance, full participation and completion of all practical exercises is required in order to successfully complete the course and qualify for the issue of the course certificate.
Australian residents who successfully complete this course will also receive a Statement of Attainments for MARF011 Manage firefighting and fire prevention activities on board a vessel. MARF011 is a nationally recognised unit of competency under the Australian Maritime College (RTO ID 60131).
AMSA approved, in accordance with Marine Order 71 to 73.

AMCS Registration Terms
To secure your enrolment, payment of 50% of the course fee is required. Cancellations up to 15 working days prior to the scheduled date will be accepted without penalty. Cancellations less than 15 working days will be subject to 100% cancellation fee.
AMCS reserves the right to cancel the course if insufficient registrations have been received by seven days from commencement of course. Any fees paid for cancelled courses will be refunded in full.

This course is based at the Australian Maritime College, Newnham Campus in Launceston Tasmania.
Participants arriving at Launceston Airport should make their way to the Australian Maritime College, Newnham Drive, Newnham. Taxi fare from the airport is approximately $55.00.
Parking: Complimentary car parking is provided on campus in areas designated to AMCS participants and clients.
