Fast Rescue Boat Operator’s Course (FRB)

Course Entry Prerequisites

Please note the prerequisite is for entry onto the course. In order for enrolment to be accepted, evidence must be provided at enrolment point:

  • An AMSA issued Certificates of Proficiency as Rating or Certificate of Competency; or
  • A Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Basic First Aid Certificate (including resuscitation techniques) attained in the past two years, from a nationally recognised provider or verified continual sea services within the past two years.

AMCS Registration Terms

To secure your enrolment, payment of 50% of the course fee is required.  Cancellations up to 15 working days prior to the scheduled date will be accepted without penalty.  Cancellations less than 15 working days will be subject to 100% cancellation fee.

AMCS reserves the right to cancel the course if insufficient registrations have been received by seven days from commencement of course.  Any fees paid for cancelled courses will be refunded in full.

When making flight bookings please ensure you book on a fully refundable basis.

Course Aim

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to safely operate a Fast Rescue Boat (FRB) and handle a casualty in a FRB. The course will be delivered by classroom theory sessions followed immediately by practical hands-on training sessions.  (Table A-VI/2-2, STCW78 as amended).

Certification

The following certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who successfully complete the course and provide documentary evidence to satisfy the course pre-requisite:

  • Certificate of Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (AMSA approved), meeting the requirements of STCW Reg VI/2 and Code Section A-VI/2, Table A-VI/2-2.

100% attendance, full participation and completion of all practical exercises is required in order to successfully complete the course and qualify for the issue of the course Certificate.

Location Information

This course is conducted at the Beauty Point Campus of the Australian Maritime College, which is situated approx 52 kms north of Launceston.

Participants are advised to arrange accommodation at Beauty Point and transfers from Launceston airport to Beauty Point, as there is no public transport available.
