Managing Yourself and Others

This workshop is designed to help managers become effective leaders and apply a reflective approach to their personal management skills and leadership style.

Participants will learn practical solutions to leading and managing people in a diverse workplace and best practice strategies to improve the performance of themselves and others. The workshop will also focus on providing feedback, allowing participants to practice delivering corrective feedback in a safe environment.

The program will cover:

  • the role and characteristics of a leader,
  • the importance of leadership and communication skills,
  • building and sustaining relationships,
  • adapting management styles to suit the needs of staff, colleagues and stakeholders, and
  • delivering immediate and ongoing feedback

  • Recognise and articulate the role of the leader.
  • Utilise a range of leadership approaches
  • Understand what motivates people and teams

Managing yourself, relationships and your team

  • Develop self-awareness of own leadership style and impact
  • Understand team behaviours and handle tricky situations with greater certainty

Management styles and the role of the manager in setting clear expectations

  • Understand Stages of team development
  • Review the Situational Leadership model
  • Adapt your management style to meet the needs of your team

Managing people performance and providing effective and corrective feedback

  • Review the Performance management cycle
  • Practice giving and receiving feedback
