This course has been designed to meet the competencies as set out in OCIMF Marine and Terminal Operator Competence Training Guide. Loadmaster training is appropriate for personnel involved in the loading of LNG, LPG and Oil cargoes. Typically the course will cover all cargo types, however it can be tailored to meet the needs of the client.
The course is normally conducted over three days and is delivered through a mixture of lectures, group discussions, case studies and exercises conducted on a Kongsberg Liquid Cargo Handling Loading Simulator.
This course is intended to provide training in LNG, LPG and Condensate (Oil) loading operations for the following roles:
The course utilises a Kongsberg Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator designed to show the full extent of operations undertaken on board ship during the load process. The cargo simulator has the ability to utilise different vessel models, including a Membrane LNG Tanker, a semi-refrigerated LPG Tanker and a Crude Oil Tanker. Interaction with shore representatives is incorporated to ensure that the system functions as would be expected in a real-world situation. The Kongsberg Simulator is approved by Det Norske Veritas as meeting the compliance requirements of Standard for Certification No. 2.14 (January 2011).
The course is conducted by Chris McGuire and David Kenny.
Chris has an extensive maritime background, including maritime education design and development, ship inspections, market research and maritime human resources. Chris developed and delivered the LNG Mooring Operations training to the LNG facilities on Curtis Island.
David is a Loadmaster, and has extensive experience onboard LNG tankers. David has provided the technical and operational expertise to the development of the Loadmaster course.
