Security Awareness Training (SAT) Online

It is now mandatory for all AMSA certificate holders to hold a Security Awareness Endorsement.

To meet industry demand for this endorsement, AMC have developed Security Awareness Training (SAT) as an online course.

The course is approved by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), and is open for enrolment.

Upon successful completion of the online course, an AMSA approved certificate will be issued, which will allow you to obtain an endorsement from AMSA.

To register for the course, please complete registration details form.  After submitting the form, payment options will be provided.

Payment of course fees, or authorisation to invoice from your company is required before your online account is created.  The online account creation process takes between 3-4 business days.

Equipment Required

SAT online is provided utilising the University of Tasmania’s online learning environment, MyLO.

Computer setup:  Check the computer and/or browser are set up to enable MyLO to work properly by running a ‘system check’.

Course Structure

The course consists of:

  • Three (3) learning resource sections (section 1, 2 and 3)
  • Three (3) progress checks (progress check 1, 2 and 3)
  • One (1) final assessment

In order to progress through sections 1 and 2, candidates are required to complete the progress check and obtain a minimum score of 60%.

Candidates will be advised of their results immediately after the progress check is submitted, once the pass mark has been achieved, the next section will be made available.

Results will be made available upon completion and submission of the final assessment. Failure to achieve the required pass marks in the progress checks (1, 2 & 3) and/or the final assessment will result in a grade of Not Yet Competent.


The following certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who successfully complete the course.  Please allow up to 5-7 days after completing the exam to receive the certificate:

  • Security Awareness Training (AMSA approved) meeting the requirements of STCW Reg VI/6 and Code Section A-VI/6 paragraph 4, Table A-VI/6-1.

Certificates will be posted via Registered Post within and Australian and overseas.  Additional charges are applicable if next day delivery is required.
