Nippon Foundation Visit AMC
In September, AMCS welcomed 16 students from Chongqing Jiaotong University to spend two months at the AMC campus in Launceston. Students were hosted by AMC and given a taste of student life in Australia.
The students were given a tour of AMC’s research and training facilities and the opportunity to visit AMC’s Beauty Point campus. The students were split into two groups depending on their areas of interest and were offered the opportunity to attend classes in either engineering or logistics management based subjects. English lessons were provided each week in addition to the academic programme.
The students stayed on campus in University of Tasmania student accommodation and participated in a number of activities organised by the staff at Accommodation Services. These included a Girls only night, BBQ dinner, Guys night out, a ping pong tournament and a communal pot luck dinner.
AMCS organised a number of recreational trips for the students in addition to a welcome and farewell functions. These included a tour of Launceston, a visit to Tasmania Zoo and Seahorse World, a day trip to Cradle Mountain and a trip to the Bridestowe Lavender farm. An overnight trip to Hobart including a visit to MONA, Salamanca and a drive up Mount Wellington also proved popular.
