One of the many international events conducted each year in Tasmania is the Three Peaks Race.

It starts near AMC's campus at Beauty Point each year on Good Friday, and comprises:

  • A sail leg of 90 nautical miles to Flinders Island from Beauty Point on the Tamar River
  • A 65 kilometre run to Mt. Strezlecki on Flinders Island
  • A sail leg of 145 nautical miles from Flinders Island to Coles Bay on the East Coast
  • A 33 kilometre run across the "The Hazards"
  • A final sailing leg to Hobart of 100 nautical miles
  • A 35 kilometre run up Mt. Wellington and back down to finish at Constitution Dock.

For several years now, AMC Search's training vessel TV Pinduro has assisted race organisers by providing a viewing platform for the Governor of Tasmania, and other VIPs, to view the start of the event and to follow the yachts as they sail up the Tamar River towards Bass Strait.

This year, His Excellency The Honourable William Cox and his party were hosted by TV Pinduro's Skipper, Peter Hunt and fellow AMC search staff member Phill Lenthall. TV Pinduro again provided a superb vantage point for the Governor and his party to observe the start of this unique event.
