AMC Search's contract with the Australian Department of Defence to develop and deliver training for officers and crew of 22 Pacific Patrol Boats has been renewed for the 5 years 2006 to 2010.
Around 300 Pacific Islanders are trained each year from 12 Pacific Island Countries, with most courses being conducted at the Australian Maritime College but also with many courses being conducted in the Pacific nations themselves.
Courses range from marine technical propulsion and technical electronics, through to seamanship and navigation (Master IV level), base maintainers, fisheries and surveillance, and management.
The 5 year contract has a total value of around $9.0 million. |
