AMC's fisheries training vessel, Reviresco and some of its underwater video camera technology were recently involved in survey work in Bass Strait to evaluate the magnitude and condition of a variety of sea sponges.
Beam trawling was used to capture more than 150 species, and the underwater camera developed and manufactured by AMC technical staff was very effective in obtaining visual data to assist with the resource assessment and evaluation.
AMC now has a number of underwater video cameras with highly developed technological capabilities, and can be utilised in depths of up to 400 metres. These are available for hire and have been used for projects as diverse as the behaviour of seals towards deep sea trawl nets in New Zealand , and land-based stormwater tunnel inspections. |
