Design engineers Worley Ltd., have used AMC Search's VOS to assist in the design and positioning of a new berth planned for Port Hedland.
The port was modelled on VOS including the planned berth and associated options for changes to the port's channels turning circles and navigational aids.
VOS was than set up in Worley's offices in Perth where the engineering design team and Port Hedland personnel conducted a range of simulated ship manoeuvring exercises over three days. The exercises included day and night manoeuvres under various tidal and environmental conditions, and were successful in contributing towards resolving a number of design related issues that will ensure maximum safety and efficiency of future shiphandling operations at the new berth.
VOS has recently been commissioned for a second port design study in Malaysia following its success on an earlier simulation study this year in Malaysia for Ranca Ranca on the island of Labuan.
New ship models have been acquired for VOS, which now has 35 “ownership” models plus 5 Tugs including Single and Twin Screw, Z-Drive and Voith Schneider models.
Many ship models are available in fully loaded and ballast conditions, and cover all types of vessels including fishing boats and fast rescue craft, through to gas carriers, VLCC's, container ships, passenger ships and bulk carriers. |
