Medical Care on Board Ship

STCW

Course also known as: Shipmaster Medical, Medical Care for Shipmasters

Provides theoretical and practical training in the treatment of the sick and injured on board ship. AMSA approved, meeting the requirements of STCW Reg VI/4 and Code Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-2.

Participants will learn to use a Medical Guide (radio medical advice) and equipment carried by merchant ships. Ambulance service and attendance at the Casualty Department of a hospital is arranged, candidates should plan on attending the practical sessions on the Saturday and Sunday immediately following course completion.

Course Entry Prerequisite

Please note the following prerequisite is for entry onto the course and evidence must be provided upon enrolment:

  • STCW Medical First Aid on board Ship Certificate

Certification

The following certificate will be issued to participants who successfully complete* the course:

  • Medical Care on board Ship (AMSA approved), meeting the requirements of STCW Reg VI/4 and Code Section A-VI/4, Table A-VI/4-2

*100% attendance, full participation and completion of all exercises is required.
