This course outlines the components and operation of Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning Systems (SDP and K-Pos). Course participants will become familiar the modes of operation and interfaces of Kongsberg DP systems, through practical exercises and theoretical sessions. The capabilities and limitations of various modes is discussed, using relevant practical examples from real world operations.
Particular emphasis is placed on the internal processes employed by Kongsberg for reference system handling, and vessel positioning. This allows operators to fully understand the effects of other components of the DP system and position keeping.
Attention is also drawn to the presentation of warnings and alarms within the system, and the relevant actions that should be taken by operators.
The course is designed for DP operators, or others, who are familiar with DP systems and operations generally, but require specific training on the operation and function of Kongsberg systems.
