Environmental Awareness

This course introduces participants to the concept of environmentally sound shipping.  Participants are provided with information on the diversity and significance of the marine environment and how this environment can be adversely impacted by shipping industry activities.  Through this knowledge participants are encouraged to appreciate the role people can play in protecting the environment from pollution and how individuals can proactively contribute to environmentally sound shipping practices.

Equipment Required

Environmental Awareness online is provided utilising the University of Tasmania’s online learning environment, MyLO.

Computer setup:  Check the computer and/or browser are set up to enable MyLO to work properly by running a ‘system check’.

Course Structure

The course consists of:

  • Seven (7) learning modules; and
  • One (1) final assessment (multiple choice test)


You are required to achieve a minimum of 50% at the final assessment to pass the unit.


The following certificate will be issued by AMC to participants who successfully complete the course.  Please allow up to 5-7 days after completing the exam to receive the certificate:

Certificates will be posted via Registered Post within and Australian and overseas.  Additional charges are applicable if next day delivery is required.

Payment Options

To secure a course registration, payment of the course fee are required (or at minimum of 50% deposit).  Payment methods accepted:

AMCS Registration Terms

To secure your enrolment, payment of 50% of the course fee is required.  Cancellations up to 15 working days prior to the scheduled date will be accepted without penalty.  Cancellations less than 15 working days will be subject to 100% cancellation fee.

AMCS reserves the right to cancel the course if insufficient registrations have been received by seven days from commencement of course.  Any fees paid for cancelled courses will be refunded in full.
