Course Aim
To meet the mandatory requirements contained in Chapter 1.3 of the 2008 Edition IMDG Code, and in particular, within the guidelines enumerated in table 1.3.1.5 “ Recommended training needs for shore–side personnel involved in the transport of dangerous goods under the IMDG Code” and to render course participants competent, according to their responsibilities, in the offering for transportation, shipment preparation, handling, packaging, documentation, storage, stevedoring, stowage and transportation of Dangerous Goods within Australia.
Separate courses have been developed to address the training requirements for the functions as listed in Table 1.3.1.5 of the IMDG Code, 2008.

Content
Course duration depends on the function of the participant:
Shippers, Packers, Consolidators
Function:
Pack Dangerous Goods
Mark Label or Placard Dangerous Goods.
Load/Unload CTUs
DURATION: 16 hours – conducted over 2 extended days, or 2.5 days
Shipping and Shipping Agency Clerical Staff
Function:
Offer Dangerous Goods for Transport
Accept Dangerous Goods for Transport
DURATION: 14 hours – conducted over 2 days
Road Transport, Railway and Terminal operators
Function:
Handle Dangerous Goods in Transport
DURATION: 14 hours – conducted over 2 days
Shipping, Terminal Supervisors, Ship Planners, Ship Officers
Function:
Prepare Dangerous Goods Loading Stowage Plans
Unloading/Loading Dangerous Goods into from Ships
Carry Dangerous Goods
Enforce Survey or Inspect for Compliance with applicable rules and regulations
DURATION: 18 hours – conducted over 2.5 days
Course Approval
This course is AMSA approved.
Certificate
Upon successful completion, participants will be issued:
AMC AMSA approved Dangerous Goods Certificate specifying the course undertaken and relevant functions, meeting the requirements of Marine Orders Part 41, Issue 10, Provision 7.
