Course Prerequisites

Medical First Aid on board Ship (issued by an AMSA approved training provider), or an Australian issued Deck Watchkeeper Certificate of Competency.

Course Duration

Approx 60 hours (including weekend hospital and ambulance practical sessions)

Course Aim

Theoretical and practical training in the treatment of the sick and injured on board ship.  Use of Medical Guide (radio medical advice) and equipment carried by merchant ships.  Ambulance service and attendance at the Casualty Department of a hospital is arranged, candidates should plan on attending the practical sessions on the Saturday and Sunday immediately following course completion. (Table A-VI/4-2, STCW78 as amended).

Certificate

Upon successful completion, participants will be issued:

AMSA approved AMC Certificate meeting the requirements of Table A-VI/4-2, STCW78 as amended.
